Bobcats (Lynx rufus) are incredible jumpers. They can leap as high as 10 to 12 feet (3 to 3.6 meters) vertically from a standing position. This ability comes from their powerful hind legs, which are longer than their front legs, giving them excellent spring and balance. They use this strength not just for vertical jumps, but also for horizontal leaps of up to 20 feet (6 meters) when chasing prey or moving between rocks and logs in rugged terrain.
