In today’s education news… teachers are given a 4% pay rise with extra funding from the DfE but that won’t be fully funded meaning schools are still going to have to plug the gap. Could this lead to more redundancies, workload and potentially more strikes?
I’m incredibly proud (and still pinching myself!) to finally share that I’ve been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to education. From the very beginning, my mission has always been simple: support teachers, make their lives that little bit easier, and be a voice for positive change in education. To now be recognised in this way is surreal and truly special. This honour wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support network I’m so lucky to have around me. I’m endlessly grateful to my wife, my children, my mum and dad, my family, friends, colleagues, every school that’s welcomed me for INSET, and every teacher who’s ever joined a session, shared a post, left a kind message, or followed along. You’ve all helped shape this journey and I can’t thank you enough. This isn’t just a personal recognition, I like to think it’s a win for the whole teaching community. This changes nothing, except fuelling my drive to keep supporting educators, championing the profession, and hopefully having a bit of a laugh along the way. ❤️👊
In today’s educational news… Climate change could lead to up to 12 days i’ve lost learning in school. But I think anyone who’s been working in school this week will tell you with this heat wave this week has been a write off.
